It's that time of year, almost June, and that means HP DISCOVER. I'm really interested in the keynote address from HP Technology Services SVP & GM Jean-Paul Wagner. Why? Well, he has really got some good things to say about the New Style of Business. It can be characterized many ways. One way would be where next-generation devices are the gateway for users to connect, communicate and collaborate… but IT needs to be architected to support these new dynamics. Simple enough, right?
That architecture I casually referred to involves the creation of new infrastructure platforms that will facilitate next-generation applications and user experiences. Today I think it's fair to say they're architected for operational purposes.
Converged, software-defined, hybrid-delivered; where infrastructure automation is standard, DevOps teams are able to develop new apps to differentiate their business, the workforce is fully mobile and enabled, the organization is data-driven enterprises, and its digital assets secured. This is where we're going, and that’s where Jean-Paul and his organization comes in, to deliver IT solutions for the New Style of Business.
It’s a shift we haven’t seen since that of e-commerce/Internet 20 years ago. It’s not all transformational.
